Large flat doors and drawer fronts allowed the subtle beauty of
California Black Oak in a clear finish to be the major decorative statement. With the addition of
Maple Butcher Block counters, this became a very wooden kitchen. We install tile on each side of the sink
for water drainage and two tile inserts in the wood top for hot pads on each side of the stove.

The left thumbnail photo shows a wooden fume hood over the stove. Ugly metal isn't the only option.
The right thumbnail shows a small "working wine cellar" with convection flow cooling.
(Heat rises to be replaced by cooler air, maintaining a temperature of 51 degrees at this location.) |

On the left is a corner cabinet for baking tins and other stuff. On the right we show a shop-built lazy susan.
When we build them we utilize the entior corner cabinet, gaining maybe 50% more storage. |
