RENE'S KITCHEN |

A beautiful kitchen done in Quartersawn Red Oak, with a
medium walnut brown stain added. The house was a standard California tract home with a spectacular interior.
Most kitchens I've been involved with have been designed with the lady of the house (and head chef). This kitchen
was designed by the man of the house, Rene, who never cooked, according to his wife. Consequently, many of the
wonderful features we built into it were not useful to her. She stated that "his heart was in the right place."

The left thumbnail photo shows flour and sugar bins on the left, designed and built to food grade specifications,
each of which could safely store 50 pounds. The head cook stores paper products and noodles, etc.
Under the sink, we created special storage for goodies unknown. The dish drainer didn't fit and there was
nowhere else to put it. I learned to get more design criteria from the cook.

A very handy kitchen office. The flap front doubles as a work surface and clutter disquise.
The phone is probably a rotary, as we did this kitchen in the mid 70's. |
