Brent, in his spare time, had been building his new home for a number of years.
He incorporated functional art into every aspect of his design. The kitchen was no exception.
The cabinet interiors we made of Maple plywood for the clean warm look. We incorporated rollout trays
(solid wood, dovetailed sides) in the lowers and adjustable shelving in the uppers.
The face frames are red Madrone (Madrona in Washington), with curley Western Big Leaf Maple drawer fronts
and door frames. The panels are a 2 part construction of red Madrone and curley Western Big Leaf Maple.
The effect is a frame and picture within a frame and picture. Madrone offsetting Maple.
We created curved and beveled pulls in red Madrone for the drawers and doors.
The Maple and Madrone are indigenous trees to the Northcoast of California, Brent's home.
Madrone is a very colorful wood showing red and tan predominately. Brent chose red.
